Freedom II Serenity Serenity Floorplan Reviews

  • 2010 Freedom II Serenity Serenity Floorplan

What I liked most: FULL RV in only 23 feet at 18+ MPG. The 2007 is built on a 2005 Dodge Sprinter 3500 Cut-Away chassis. The body is then molded in inches thick fiberglass, the walls and roof then glued together and mounted on a linoleum covered wooden floor. Below the floor are mounted fresh, grey, and black tanks along with a large propane tank and a spare tire. Along the sides are access covers for storage bins and access to batteries and generator as well as the water/sewer center. Above the floor more outside access to under bed and couch storage bins including one along the entire back allows storage of golf bags and more. A 12 foot awning, patio light, and retractable screen door make for great patio use. Parking is easy with backup camera, lots of visibility including a rear and side window and large mirrors. Despite being a wide vehicle it still fits in a single mall space and because the cab is not wide you can open the doors easily when parked next to other cars. It is a bit long for a single parking space and often I will double dip into the space in front of me to get out of the way of traffic. Additionally being able to tow 5000 lbs makes this quite a good vehicle for towing, I have towed a 29' trailer, several cars wheels down, and I even have a custom motorcycle lift welded onto the hitch. Inside the expectations of a much larger RV are met including being able to stand upright with 6+ feet of headroom. Behind the cab there is a 23" TV wired into the RV dash stereo that feeds speakers throughout the van including a Bose subwoofer in the back. I upgraded the TV to 32" but it's tight. Bench seats on either side of the isle allow for 6 more people to sit comfortably though cosy. A center table can be erected when not stored so meals can be served and the cab seats can be turned to join dinner or games. When traveling with just two the turned cab seats allow stretching out on the couches or putting your feet up on the couch while seated up front. The space has storage under each bench seat and they come down to make a large bed up front. When I had big dogs the bed is where they rode, also good for guests or if someone is sick. Above this area is a VERY large opening skylight, you can stick your head out and watch the air races overhead or check what the sound you heard outside the RV late at night was. Great place to watch the rain fall. Also has an accordion blind and/or a retractable bug screen. Across from the mid-entry is a large countertop due to glass covered stove and sink. Lots of storage above and below for food, dishes, pots and pans and a built in cutlery drawer. There is a 6 cu. ft. fridge, big for a 23 footer, convection microwave, a Fantastic branded fan, and spice rack rounds out the kitchen accoutrements. The bedroom is off the kitchen with a large hanging closet for two and two large drawers for pants and pajamas. Later models raised the closet by shrinking the control center and provided three drawers. The control center shows levels, turns on the generator and the electric and gas water heater. An accordion curtain can be drawn across the passageway to separate the bedroom from the rest of the RV. More cabinets above the bed with speakers and under cabinet lights. The bed is a large 54" by 82" custom bed that can use queen sheets. You can also have seating for another 3 in the back if you have the electric sofa bed option. I much prefer the full time extra thick bed so you don't have to make up a bed each night. The extra under bed storage in the permanent bed allows me to store things I don't use everyday. The roof air conditioner comes pretty low here until the 2015 model so not having a walkway here means not bumping your head. The advantage being that the entire RV (except the antenna) is under 9'6", fits thru a 10 foot garage door. The A/C and furnace are controlled on the wall next to the bed, you don't even have to get up to turn it down for the night, there is also a 12v outlet to run an electric blanket during really cold weather. Next to the bed is the bath, thru another accordion curtain f

What I'd improve: For what it is, this is the market leader. Winnebago has made several variations that include slide outs and front facing skylights but none so well manufactured or thought out as the Serenity. Additionally the Serenity is much more beautiful than the competition, swooping lines and some gorgeous paint. The folks at Coach House build a similar sized product on the Sprinter with NO seams. One piece of molded fiberglass. That's a neat trick and means no seams to keep caulked (I currently have a leak in the s
