Top 5 Best Travel Trailers For Tailgating

While the point of a trailer trailer is to enjoy traveling the great outdoors whilst having the comfort of a proper home, it’s hard to deny that outdoor is where the fun’s at. However, that doesn’t mean that a travel trailer is just good for sleeping, it’s great for tailgating as well. Here are our top 5 travel trailers for tailgating!

What puts an RV on the list: The travel trailer market is a intense competition, regardless of the category. The ones that made this list are the ones with the most floorplans that feature outdoor kitchens, have a lot of features useful for tailgating, and ones that have received a positive response from users and critics alike.

The Top 5 Best Travel Trailers For Tailgating:

  1. Coachmen Freedom Express Travel Trailer
  2. Palomino Puma Travel Trailer
  3. Dutchmen Aspen Trail Travel Trailer
  4. Keystone Hideout Travel Trailer
  5. Keystone Passport Travel Trailer

#1. Coachmen Freedom Express Travel Trailer

Durable Camping For The Entire Family!

View All Coachmen Freedom Express Tratvel Trailer Floorplans!

No. of Floorplans Unloaded Weight Sleeps Length
26 3852-7736 lbs 4-10 22-36 feet

Why we recommend the Coachmen Freedom Express travel trailer: Durable camping is one way to define the Freedom Express. Another would be versatile, as it has 26 different floorplans to choose from, of which 9 feature outdoor kitchens. There are other competitors that do provide more, but few have the same reputation and the status of being a good travel trailer that the Freedom Express does.

While we recommend checking out the Freedom Express 248RBS and the Freedom Express 257BHS, it goes without saying that the features aren’t that different across those floorplans, if at all. For instance, there’s only storage under the master bed on select floorplans, but otherwise it’s the same welded aluminum superstructure, same jackknife sofa, and same accent wall in the master bedroom.

#2. Palomino Puma Travel Trailer

43 Floorplans. Same Luxury!

View All Palomino Puma Travel Trailer Floorplans!

No. of Floorplans Unloaded Weight Sleeps Length
43 5322-8795 lbs 4-10 27-38 feet

Why we recommend Palomino Puma travel trailer: While keeping the number of choices relatively low, Palomino is a company that excels at whatever limited collection it has. The Puma in particular is one of a kind, providing 43 floorplans ranging from ~5,000 to 8,000 lbs and spanning a cozy 27 to massive 38 feet in length. We recommend checking out the Puma 28FQDB and the Puma 32RKTS.

It is hard to find anything negative about the Puma’s features. From the full aluminum frame and the radius roof on the outside, to the decorative valances and the on premium speakers the inside, there’s nothing you’re missing out on. You’ll also be able to upgrade to a 15,000 BTU A/C over the 13,500 BTU variant, which will be a great feature for those traveling in the south, or just throughout the summer.

You’ll find the Puma to show off much more than physical specs too. From the basics, such as a carbon monoxide detector and LED lighting to some outdoor-specific ones such as the power awning, it’s all here. That, combined with the possibility to add expansions such as outside speakers and an upgraded 15,000 BTU A/C, we’re confident that the Puma will serve as one of the best travel trailers for tailgating out there.

#3. Dutchmen Aspen Trail Travel Trailer

No. of Floorplans Unloaded Weight Sleeps Length
36 3125-8126 lbs 3-10 21-39 feet

Why we recommend the Dutchmen Aspen Trail travel trailer: Another one of our top choices, due to the sheer number of floorplans and the versatility is the Aspen Trail by Dutchmen. As far as the physical specs go, it covers a weight range of roughly 3,000 to 8,000 pounds, sleeping capacities ranging from 3 to 10 people and a footprint spanning from 21 to 39 feet. That alone was enough to intrigue us, but there’s more.

We recommend taking a look at the Aspen Trail and the Aspen Trail particularly for their outdoor kitchen and large sleeping capacities, but feel free to choose what suits you best. The manual awning and 2 exterior speakers make it a great travel trailer for tailgating, but you should consider upgrading it to power awning, as it features that among many other upgrades too. It goes without saying that the Aspen Trail is a quality travel trailer and definitely deserves to be on this list!

#4. Keystone Hideout Travel Trailer

Relax, Entertain, Unwind.

No. of Floorplans Unloaded Weight Sleeps Length
44 4102-8590 lbs 3-10 23-37 feet

Why we recommend the Keystone Hideout Travel Trailer: You could consider the Hideout to be Puma’s cousin, even though the two travel trailers belong to different manufacturers. This is because on paper, there’s a minimal difference between the number of floorplans they provide, the weight, their sleeping capacities, and the length. The point of distinction would be the Hideout 22RBWE, which is a sub-5,000 lb. floorplan that also happens to have an outdoor kitchen. The Puma has no sub-5,000 pound floorplans.

We also recommend taking a look at the Hideout 26BHSWE for bunkhouses and the outdoor kitchen, but it’s the same as any other floorplan in terms of features. You’ll find the Hideout to have exterior speakers, a TV antenna with booster, adjustable power awning among many other features. If you wish to improve its aspects down the line, you can do so with expansions, such as a tri-fold sleeper sofa or an exterior shower too!

#5. Keystone Passport Travel Trailer

Your Featherlight Weekend Camper!

View All Keystone Passport Travel Trailer Floorplans!

No. of Floorplans Unloaded Weight Sleeps Length
31 3160-6926 lbs 4-10 20-37 feet

Why we recommend Keystone Passport travel trailer: Apart from the Hideout, the Passport from Keystone has proven itself to be an amazing camper, especially if you’re not intending to tow a travel trailer with anything other than your SUV or a half-ton vehicle. Nearly half of its floorplans are well under 5,000 pounds and provide outdoor kitchens too, such as the Passport 2400BH Grand Touring and the Passport 239ML Express.

Keystone’s Passport has great features, especially in terms of the exterior. Electric adjustable awning, exterior speakers, you name it. However, what caught our eye were the expansions. On top of the 5-6 expansions and upgrades, you get a few ‘packages’ which bring many useful features, usually specific to a certain category (safety, for example), which means there’s a lot you can do with the Passport years after you’ve bought it!
